Bucks, Wolves clash at Bradley Center

01/23/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Midwest rivals clash in Brew City Saturday night as the Milwaukee Bucks play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Bucks failed to finish off a home-and-home sweep of Toronto last night as Jarrett Jack made 7-of-9 shots from the field on his way to a season-high 27 points, as the Raptors used a late surge to take down Milwaukee, 101-96, at Air Canada Centre.

Luke Ridnour had a season-high 27 points for the Bucks, who have lost six of their last eight contests. Andrew Bogut finished with 22 points and six rebounds. Brandon Jennings chipped in 14 points in defeat.

"It seems like we have had a lot of close games this year and we just can't win. We have to get control of games and not let them get away," Ridnour said.

The Wolves, meanwhile, are coming off a tough loss of their own last night, a 96-94 setback to New Orleans.

James Posey played the hero again, sinking the winning layup as time expired in that one to lift the Hornets to the victory.

Minnesota's Jonny Flynn converted a three-point play with 3.5 seconds left to tie the contest before New Orleans called a timeout. Posey got the ball on the inbound on the right side of the court, near the three-point line, and faked a handoff to point guard Chris Paul, who drew two defenders.

Suddenly free, Posey spun toward the basket and put up his attempt with time still on the clock, and the ball dropped through as the buzzer sounded to give the Hornets the win.

Posey's play came just two days after he made a layup with 1.1 seconds to go to lift the Hornets to a 113-111 win over Memphis. It also came more than a month after New Orleans beat Minnesota in a strikingly similar way, as Paul scored the go-ahead basket with 1.4 seconds left to give the Hornets a 97-96 victory on December 9.

"Definitely a tough loss, losing at the buzzer like that," Flynn said. "Especially to them twice. Exact same play they ran, exact same thing happened."

Flynn had 20 points, while Al Jefferson ended with 25 points and 13 rebounds for Minnesota, which is a Western Conference-worst 9-35 on the season.

The Bucks snapped a three-game skid to the Wolves with a 87-72 rout in Minneapolis earlier this season.

The 2009 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds have been released and Denver Broncos' running back Knowshon Moreno has been made the opening favorite.

Bet NFL Sports Lines

Moreno was selected in the first round of April's NFL draft and is expected to carry the rushing load for the Broncos this season. And with Jay Cutler now in Chicago, Moreno might be expected to be Denver's entire offense.

Betting Lines from sports betting lines have made Moreno a 5/2 favorite to win this year's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Fellow running back Chris “Beanie” Wells (Arizona Cardinals) is right behind Moreno at 7/2, while Donald Brown (Indianapolis Colts) and receiver Michael Crabtree (San Francisco 49ers) are 5/1 to win. Quarterbacks Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) and Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) are 7/1 and 8/1, respectively.

A couple of players who present some value are Josh Freeman, Shonn Green and Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Freeman needs to beat out Byron Leftwich to become the starting quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but if he does, he has a lot or raw talent and could use the weapons around him (i.e. Kellen Winslow Jr. and Antonio Bryant) to be very successful in his first season.

Green enters a crowded backfield in New York, but considering both Thomas Jones and Leon Washington are unhappy about their contract situations and might holdout, the former Iowa product could become the Jets' primary back.

Everyone was shocked when Al Davis took Heyward-Bey with the eighth overall pick in April's draft, but the kid has a tremendous amount of talent and if quarterback JaMarcus Russell takes the next step this year, the former Maryland product could blossom. Plus, Heyward-Bey will be looking to prove the people wrong who said Oakland should have taken Michael Crabtree with the No. 8 pick.

And if you're looking for a deep sleeper, check out Pat White at 30/1. He enters the Miami Dolphins vaunted “Wild Cat” offense and could be a big time playmaker.
