01/04/2009 - Eugene, OR (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Darren Collison scored 22 points and had nine assists to lead the 12th-ranked UCLA Bruins over the host Oregon Ducks, 83-74, Sunday at McArthur Court.

Josh Shipp was 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and scored 17 points to help UCLA complete a sweep of its trip to Oregon. UCLA (12-2, 2-0) opened Pac-10 play on Friday against Oregon State with a 69-46 victory.

With 15:51 remaining in the opening half Oregon closed the Bruins' lead to 7-6, but UCLA built the advantage to 17-8 with 12:29 left in the half. The Ducks came back to trail 18-15 with 9:17 remaining, but the Bruins pushed their lead to 30-20 with 5:20 left and were able to reach halftime leading 40-29.

The second half saw Oregon cut the deficit to 44-39 with 16:59 to play, and the Ducks trailed 46-43 after Porter's layup with 14:48 left. Kamyron Brown's three-pointer made the score 51-48 with 12:36 to go.

Shipp drained a three with 8 1/2 minutes left to put UCLA up by seven, but Porter's three with 6:13 left cut the Oregon deficit to four, 64-60.

Shipp nailed another three-pointer with 4:16 remaining to give UCLA a 69-60 advantage, and Collison completed a three-point play with 2:50 left to make the score 72-60.

Oregon got to within 77-70 with a minute to play, but the Ducks took too long to get off their shots, and the Bruins made their free throws down the stretch, allowing UCLA to take the victory.

El Duque expected to throw Tuesday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- New York Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez, sidelined at spring training because of arthritis in his neck, is expected to resume throwing on Tuesday.

Hernandez received a cortisone shot Thursday after leaving camp and returning to New York to have his neck examined. The 41-year-old right-hander is penciled in as the team's No. 2 starter behind Tom Glavine.

El Duque's health is a major issue for the Mets, who won the NL East in 2007 and came within one victory of the World Series. Their aging and unsettled rotation is a big question mark this year.

MySportsbook.com has the Mets as -110 favorites to repeat as NL East champions odds

Hernandez went 11-11 with a 4.66 ERA last season, including 9-7 with a 4.09 ERA in 20 starts after the Mets acquired him from Arizona in late May. But he missed the playoffs because of a torn calf muscle.

New York already is without Pedro Martinez, out until at least midseason following rotator cuff surgery. Among those competing for starting jobs are prospects Mike Pelfrey, Philip Humber and Jason Vargas, plus veterans Chan Ho Park, Jorge Sosa and Aaron Sele.

Notes: Mets manager Willie Randolph is excited about two new utility players he could have on his bench: Damion Easley and David Newhan. ''Their value is really all over the place,'' Randolph said. Easley can play anywhere in the infield and could be used as an emergency outfielder, though Randolph said he would prefer to keep the veteran in the infield. Newhan, meanwhile, can play second base, third or any outfield position for the Mets. ''I love versatility,'' Randolph said. ''I love guys that can give me options when I need them to step in.''
